In relation to our work culture, we spoke to our founder and CEO, Sahar Mansoor, on the manufacturing team, its inception and their journey through the years.
Q: Hi Sahar, how was the transition from making your own products to heading an entire manufacturing team?
Sahar: It all began with me making these products in my moms’ kitchen every day, after my day job at SELCO. I then chanced upon Aseya Apa, the wife of the security guard at my mom’s school, who joined me.
Nazeema, our help at home, also pitched in part-time, to help us out. As months progressed, we began getting more orders which was when Shabreen came along.
Shabu, as we fondly call her, was resolute right from the start. Soon we were led to Reshma, a single mother focused on giving her son the best life possible. And here we are today, a three-member manufacturing team, determined to give their all to accomplish the day’s tasks.
Q: Was it a conscious decision to have an all-women manufacturing team?
Sahar: Growing up in a very diverse environment, filled with courageous women full of love, I decided to have a team that resonated the same vibe. In a country where women of lower socioeconomic standards are generally neglected and not given the opportunities they deserve, I was determined to go against the tide. Shabu, for example, was a sales representative at Commercial Street. The long working hours coupled with uneven working wages didn’t let her shine to her true potential.
