Natural deodorant is often asked one question: does it actually work?
We think that's the right question. Because choosing an aluminium-free or natural roll-on deodorant shouldn't mean choosing between ingredients you feel good about and odour protection you can rely on.

Our deodorant was evaluated in a double-blind clinical study involving healthy adults across genders.
Why does that matter?
Because a lot of product testing has historically been conducted on narrower groups. We wanted our testing to reflect the people actually using the product, not just one gender.
The results: 93% of participants reported up to 24-hour odour protection.
The clinical evaluation also found that the deodorant helped neutralise underarm odour, left no visible residue, had a non-sticky feel, and showed no dermatological signs of irritation among the participants during the study.
For us, that's important because being a natural solid deodorant isn't enough. It has to perform, too.
So, how does it work?
Some deodorants primarily mask odour with fragrance. Our approach is different.
The Bare Necessities aluminium-free deodorant uses two complementary odour-control ingredients:
Magnesium hydroxide creates a more alkaline environment on the skin, making it less favourable for odour-causing bacteria. In simple terms, it helps neutralise odour at its source rather than simply covering it up.
Derived from castor oil, zinc ricinoleate works differently. It binds and traps odour molecules, helping keep unwanted smells under control.
Together, these ingredients provide two mechanisms of odour control in one natural deodorant formula.
And what about Moisture?
This is where tapioca starch, derived from cassava root, comes in. It helps absorb excess moisture from the underarm area, helping you feel more comfortable without functioning as a conventional antiperspirant.
The formula also contains shea butter and squalane to condition and nourish the skin.
