• Globally, the picture is even more sobering. An estimated 23 billion toothbrushes are thrown away each year worldwide.

• Over 90% of discarded toothbrushes end up in landfills or, worse, in our oceans. 

• A single plastic toothbrush takes approximately 400-500 years to decompose.

That means the first mass-produced plastic toothbrush from the 1930s is still somewhere on this planet, likely broken into microplastics but far from gone.
