Why is my refill box empty?
It’s one of the most common questions we’ve received since introducing our refillable natural deodorant stick. And honestly, the answer taught us something important about building a new product category.
If you’ve ordered our Forever Case for the first time, you may notice that the refill is already inside your deodorant case, while the separate refill box is empty.
No, your refill hasn’t gone missing.
We put it there intentionally.
The empty refill box contains important product information including the fragrance name, ingredients, batch number and other product details. The actual aluminium-free, alcohol-free refill has already been fitted into your deodorant case, ready for you to use.
But wasn't the whole point to DIY your refills?
Yes. Eventually.
The idea behind a refillable deodorant is simple: buy the case once, then keep using it by replacing the deodorant refill instead of buying an entirely new product and package every time.
But we learnt that introducing a refillable product is not only about designing the mechanism. It is also about designing the experience around the mechanism.
Think about IKEA.
IKEA built its products around the idea that customers could assemble them themselves. But in India, IKEA also offers professional assembly services for customers who would rather have a helping hand. Their products remain designed for DIY; the support simply makes the experience easier for people who need it.
We took a similar approach with our refillable natural deodorant.
We already included a visual and written instruction manual with every Forever Case, along with a QR code linking to a step-by-step video. We even did video calls with customers who wanted help fitting their refill.
But customers gave us another, simpler piece of feedback: “Why not just put the refill in the case for us?”
So we listened.
With your first Forever Case purchase, we fit the refill for you. When it's time for your next refill, you can order it separately and replace it yourself.
Because sometimes, making a new habit stick means making the first step a little easier.
This is what building a new category looks like.
You launch with an idea. Customers use it.
They ask questions. You listen.
And sometimes, the product gets better because of those questions.
For us, the goal was never to make people work harder to live more sustainably. A refillable deodorant stick should make reducing packaging waste easier, not add another barrier.
So yes, your refill box may arrive empty.
But your refill isn't missing.
It's already where it needs to be, inside your Forever Case.
And the next time you order a refill, that's when the DIY begins.
