Running a purpose driven company, based on sustainability nudges us to think about multiple facets. From our products to its ingredients, consequently our suppliers to the packaging to even the partners we collaborate, adds to the conscious choices we make as a business.
Through our platform, we directly support our woman run manufacturing team and indirectly provide livelihoods to businesses that employ individuals from underserved communities. In doing so, we leverage our platform to create positive impact.
Our platform is extended to directly benefit our donation partners, Maruvan and Hasiru Dala. Two wonderful organisations committed to creating impactful initiatives that truly make our world a better place :)

This blogpost is dedicated to share an update about all the exciting work happening over at Maruvan.
What does Maruvan do?
Maruvan is a reforestation organisation that is on a mission to revive the native forests of the Marwar region. Their approach is rooted in sustainability and reviving the local biodiversity.
They develop a native tree species seed bank, a functional nursery and make patches of forest using the Miyawaki method.
Through their methodology, Maruvan establishes plant guilds/associations in a layered arrangement, following a time-stacked approach. By following this technique they are able to mimic the natural structure of the forest native to the region.
At the core of their design is a climax community tree surrounded by fast growing shrubs. The shrubs offer support to the slower-growing central tree and completes their life cycle, contributing to a self-sustaining ecosystem over time.
Bare Necessities X Maruvan
When making a purchase from Bare Necessities website, we offer customers the option to offset their carbon footprint on shipping, by making a donation to either Maruvan or Hasiru Dala.
Customer donations from Bare Necessities supports a dedicated grove at Maruvan. The funding has created a biodiverse green haven, which is only expanding, fostering a thriving mini forest ecosystem.
What once began as a tiny little Bare Patch has now flourished into a self-sustaining ecosystem, no longer requiring external maintenance or irrigation.
Since January 2022, our efforts at Maruvan have seen significant progress. Over 110 seedlings have been planted, complemented by numerous shrubs and grasses propagated through natural seed dispersal.
The Bare Patch is home to some lovely plant species such as Shankhpushpi, Kummat, Peelu, Purslane and more!
We’re thrilled to share that in the middle of the Bare Patch, is a small sitting area, which is utilised by village children for activities of the school.
Maruvan emphasises on establishing a resilient ecosystem, where new species naturally integrate, ensuring long-term biodiversity and ecological health.
