Bangalore's Circular Economy Event: Climate Action at BLR Hubba
BLR Hubba (Bengaluru Hubba) is a 10-day, city-wide arts and culture festival held from January 16–25, 2026, celebrating Bengaluru’s creative spirit through music, dance, theatre, food, and technology. Organised by the UnboxingBLR Foundation and supported by the Government of Karnataka, the festival featured over 350 events across the city.
As part of BLR Hubba, the Namma Bengaluru Challenge ’26 brought together innovation, design, data, and imagination to address some of Bengaluru’s most pressing urban challenges. The challenge was organised by UnboxingBLR in collaboration with Social Alpha and WTFund, creating a powerful platform for entrepreneurs and change-makers working on circular economy solutions.
Bare Necessities participated in the event, curating a tangible sustainability experience for visitors and showcasing how everyday choices can support climate action and circular living.n
Kudos to Prashant Prakash from Accel India for bringing entrepreneurs together and creating a meaningful space for collaboration around circular economy solutions.
Bare Necessities Creating a Sustainability Experience Zone
While our zero-waste product range from our bestselling plant-based lip balms to natural deodorants and more was on display, we wanted to go beyond products. We designed an interactive sustainability experience zone that encouraged visitors to pause, engage, and rethink everyday habits that contribute to waste reduction.
Upcycling Textile Waste with Saahas NGO
We collaborated with Saahas NGO, whose team engaged attendees in a hands-on DIY activity that transformed textile waste into keychains, showcasing how waste can be creatively repurposed.
DIY Bio-Enzyme Corner
Visitors saw firsthand how kitchen waste like orange peels, vegetable scraps, and jaggery, can be turned into a powerful, multipurpose cleaning solution using bio-enzymes.

DIY Composting at Home
We showcased a simple home composting setup to demonstrate how wet waste can be converted into nutrient-rich compost, while also preventing methane emissions that occur when organic waste ends up in landfills.

The Quick Self-Waste Audit Corner
A reflection corner invited visitors to pause and conduct a quick personal waste audit:
How much single-use plastic do you use daily? Where does your wet waste go?
The Mini Zero-Waste Museum
Our mini museum displayed everyday reusable alternatives to single-use plastics like steel dabbas, water bottles, and steel glasses. The display highlighted practical, accessible swaps people can easily adopt instead of disposable plastics.

Conversations That Last Beyond the Event
We left BLR Hubba with meaningful conversations and a growing community of people ready to rethink their relationship with waste. That’s the kind of impact that extends far beyond a single event.
