At Bare Necessities, we’ve always believed that sustainability isn’t about being perfect, it’s about trying, learning and incrementally improving every single day. As a small business, we’re completely aware that a road to a truly green future is long, but we’re committed to walking that path with purpose and persistence.
Creating a greener business model is not just a checkbox for us, it’s at the very heart of who we are. While we’re still evolving, here are some of the meaningful steps that we’ve taken to make Bare Necessities as sustainable as possible.

Waste Segregation & Monitoring
Sustainability begins at home, or in our case, at our workspace. We employ strong waste segregation in place to ensure that recyclables, compostables and landfill bound waste are handled responsibly. We have a khamba at our office, which is used by our entire team to discard their wet waste and a spot designated for dry waste. We weigh and monitor the waste that we generate on a monthly basis. By having these policies in place, we make sure nothing ends up where it shouldn’t.

Employee Awareness & Training
From day one, every new team member goes through an orientation session on our sustainability values and practices. We don’t stop just there, through ongoing development programs, we continue building a culture of environmental responsibility, curiosity and action. This has resulted in many of our team members taking these lessons back home, implementing waste segregation practices and composting their own waste too!
Why toss it when you can refill it? Our Refill & Return Your Jars Program invites customers to return their empty Bare glass jars and aluminum tins back to us. We clean and sanitise them and put it back to use! By returning their jars to us, customers avail a discount code, which can be used on their next purchase with us. We’re helping close the loop and make low waste living more accessible to everyone.
Our products are designed keeping the end in mind. This means using ingredients that are kind to you, the user and to the planet. They’re effective and in no way harm the groundwater or the planet around us.
No plastic wrap, no fillers and fluff. Just 100% compostable, recyclable or reusable packaging for each and every product. We know packaging waste is a huge contributor to environmental damage, so we have designed outs to leave no trace.
We’re not claiming to have it all figured out. But we’re here, doing the work to get there. We’re seeking better alternatives and staying transparent and prioritising progress over perfection.
