Bare Necessities Stainless Steel Straws are made from certified food grade 18-8 (304) stainless steel — BPA-free, rust-resistant, non-toxic and built to last a lifetime. One straw can replace thousands of single-use plastic straws over its life. A small swap with a genuinely large impact.

How to use

Carry your straw in the Bare reusable pouch. Use for any cold or room temperature beverage — coconut water, smoothies, juices, iced coffee, bubble tea, milkshakes and more.

After use rinse immediately with water. For a thorough clean use the straw cleaning brush (available separately on our website) with mild soap and warm water. Air dry completely before storing back in the pouch.

Note: Not recommended for very hot beverages — stainless steel conducts heat and the straw may become too hot to sip safely.

End of life

Stainless steel is infinitely recyclable. If your straw ever reaches the end of its very long life send it to your nearest scrap metal recycler. Every part of it gets a new life. Nothing goes to landfill.

What grade of stainless steel are they made from?

18-8 (304) food grade stainless steel — the same grade used in quality kitchen equipment and medical instruments. BPA-free, lead-free, phthalate-free and completely non-toxic. The highest quality food-safe steel available.

Will they rust?

No — 18-8 stainless steel is specifically chosen for its rust and corrosion resistance. With proper cleaning and drying they will never rust with normal use.

Do they leave a metallic taste?

No — food grade 304 stainless steel has been tested for no metallic aftertaste. Your drink tastes exactly as it should.

Which size should I choose?

Chunky (8mm diameter) for smoothies, thick shakes, bubble tea, milkshakes and coconut water. Skinny (6mm diameter) for juices, iced coffee, cold water, mocktails and everyday drinks. When in doubt go skinny — it works for most drinks.

Are they suitable for children?

Yes — food-safe, non-toxic and smooth edges make them suitable for children. Use caution with hot beverages for younger children.

How do I clean them?

Rinse immediately after use. For thorough cleaning use the straw cleaning brush (available separately) with mild soap and warm water. Rinse thoroughly and air dry completely before storing.

Are they dishwasher safe?

Yes — dishwasher safe. However hand washing with the cleaning brush ensures a more thorough clean especially after thick drinks like smoothies or milkshakes.
