Veganuary 2025 | What does it mean to be a vegan brand?
January is synonymous with resolutions for the rest of the year. Amongst financial discipline, regular visits to the gym and fixing sleep cycles, lies a promise to go vegan.
January marks the arrival of Veganuary, a month-long commitment to explore veganism and adopt a plant based lifestyle. Whether it's for health benefits, environmental reasons or animal welfare, Veganuary has become a global movement that encourages individuals to rethink their food and lifestyle choices.
Where did it begin?
The movement started in 2014 in the UK as a campaign aimed to encourage people to try veganism for the entire month of January. The goal was to inspire people to experience the benefits of a plant based diet and raise awareness about the impact of food choices on health, animals and the planet. What began as a small initiative, has now become a worldwide phenomenon, with millions from all walks of life joining the movement.
This month serves as an opportunity to explore new plant based foods, cruelty free alternatives and commit to making more ethical and mindful choices.
Expanding the Definition of Veganuary
Traditionally, the focus of Veganuary has been on food. Its definition can be expanded to include other products we use in our daily lives.
For starters, let’s start thinking about the source of ingredients in our everyday use products such as our clothes, personal care and home care products. These are often overlooked in conversations about veganism, but are just as important.
At Bare Necessities, we are committed to providing high quality, effective products that are sourced ethically from local vendors. The definition of this also expands to include products that are vegan. In this way, we also think of ourselves as a vegan brand that consciously designs products using high quality plant based ingredients such as mango seed butter, cacao butter, shea butter, jojoba oil, apricot oil, and more to create products that are not only kind to you but also to the planet and the others that inhabit it.
Personal care is more than just looking good - but also about feeling good knowing that the products you are using are made with integrity and compassion. Being vegan means that we’re constantly innovating to make our products even more eco-friendly from using recyclable packaging to sourcing ingredients sustainably. This is exemplified with our PETA Certification, ensuring that no animals were harmed in the making of our products.
To us, being a vegan brand is more than just a label. It’s a commitment to a sustainable, ethical way of living. It’s about creating high quality products that harness the power of nature, without relying on any animal derived ingredients or testing on animals. Our formulations are designed to be effective, so you feel confident about caring for your body with the best, cleanest ingredients.
This Veganuary, consider expanding your commitment to a cruelty free lifestyle from head to toe. Let’s celebrate kindness and sustainability, one small change at a time.
